A Qur’an Intensive for Sisters/Girls 13+
Pages to Purpose is a four-year learning journey designed to help girls 13+ build a meaningful relationship with the Qur’an. Students will explore its meanings through tafsīr and reflect on how to live its guidance in their daily lives.
Alongside Qur’anic study, the program brings together essential Islamic knowledge, spiritual development, and character formation. Classes will include discussion, reflection, and activities that help students connect what they learn to the choices they make and the challenges they face.
What will students study?

| Year 1 | Tafsīr of selected surahs, fard ‘ayn essentials, and masnūn du‘ās |
| Year 2 | Tafsīr of selected ajzā’, ‘aqīdah, and Qur’anic du‘ās |
| Year 3 | Continued tafsīr and du‘ā study, alongside Bidayat al-Hidayah, Imam al-Ghazali’s guide to spiritual discipline |
| Year 4 | Culminating tafsīr study and selections from Ihya’ ‘Ulum al-Din on inner purification and character |
Each year builds on the previous one, giving students a structured path to deepen their understanding and put what they learn into practice.
Meet the Instructor
Dr. Shaella Shagufta grew up in Saudi Arabia before moving to Pakistan to complete her medical degree. During those years, she also began her journey of seeking Islamic knowledge through Al-Huda Institute, which became the beginning of a lifelong pursuit of sacred knowledge.
After moving to the Bay Area, she continued her Islamic studies while finding ways to serve her community. Over the years, she has had the opportunity to teach women’s and youth halaqas and has served as a Girl Scout troop leader for more than a decade. Her interest in understanding and supporting others also led her to pursue coursework in psychology.
She is currently an Alimiyyah student at Qalam Institute’s Seminary in Dallas, where she has studied a range of Islamic sciences, including Aqidah, Hadith, Tafsir, Tazkiyah, Usul al-Fiqh, Fiqh, Ulum al-Qur’an, and Arabic literature. She also continues her study of Qira’at under the guidance of Sheikha Shireen Ramadan.
Through it all, she considers herself first and foremost a student of knowledge, grateful for every teacher, mentor, and community that has shaped her journey. She hopes to keep learning, growing, sharing and seeking only Allah’s acceptance and guidance.
Program and Enrollment Details
Who: Girls ages 13+
Qur’an reading prerequisite: Students must already be able to read and recite the Qur’an in Arabic with reasonable fluency and accuracy. This course does not include foundational instruction in Qur’an reading or recitation.
When: Sundays at 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
